With version 2, the REMOT device achieves greater maturity in the area of hardware and firmware of the prototype for the project.
On the hardware side, the new version introduces many new features, the most important is the replacement of the IMUs with a higher-performance sensor.
The GNSS sensor also sees an upgrade to the latest version made available by uBlox, moving from the ZED F9P-V02 to the F9P-V04b. Finally, a series of optimizations related to the miniaturization of electronics.
This enabled the following achievements:
-Size reduction from 48x48mm boards to 40x40mm boards -16%.
-Reduction in weight of all electronics from 36g to 27g -34%.
From the firmware point of view, the new features introduced in version 2 allow for greater flexibility in terms of device configuration, to meet the needs of testing and validation, an activity currently underway.
Also on the firmware side, the use of the new sensors has enabled a new synchronization strategy based on direct communication between sensors, to ensure less delay or latencies owed to other operations computed by the microprocessor.
This version was officially presented during the INTERGEO exhibition event held in Essen, on Oct. 18 to Oct. 20, 2022
